Shape and Size: Ovoid or oblong to ellipsoid, 10-20 x 7-12 µm, apical pore present.
Wall: Single, <0.5 to 1.0 µm.
Color in Water: Brown or ochraceous.

Sporocarp Characters

Shape and Size: Cylindrical to conic, slender. Ochraceous or brown, with stem and columella present. 8-11 mm x 4-5 mm.
Peridium: Glabrous, cortina remnants sometimes present.
Gleba: Composed of anastomosed gills, brown.
Odor: Not recorded.
Comments: This genus is usually found in meadows amongst forests and it is probably a saprobe associated with meadow grasses and forbs.

Name Derivation

Named by Czech botanist Josef Velenovsky (1858-1949) (1930), "after the resemblance to Galera, a secotiaceous fungus."

North America and Europe.
Species known from North Temperate Forests: Three.
