Sporocarp Characters
Similar toGastrolactarius, but without a stem and prominent columella. All species are characterized by exuding a latex from the cut tissue of moist, fresh specimens.

Name Derivation
Named by Italian mycologist Fridiano Cavara (1857-1929) in honor of the Italian botanist Giovanni Arcangeli (1840-1921).
Distribution
Hypogeous to emergent under ectomycorrhizal conifers, Myrtaceae or Dipterocarpaceae in Italy, Oregon, California, China, Europe, and Thailand.
Season: Summer and autumn.
Species known from North Temperate Forests: Eighteen.
Keys and Descriptions
Vidal (2004) revised Arcangeliella to include only non-secotioid, sessile species. He synonomizes Zelleromyces with Arcangeliella based on study of the type of material of both genera.
