Agenda and Pleanary Speakers

The next WFGA meeting will be held jointly with the Northwest Seed Orchard Managers Association on June 23-24th, 2015. The theme of the meeting is “Advances in Genetic Resources Management for an Uncertain Future” and the meeting will be held at the University of Washington’s Botanical Gardens in Seattle. Evening Program

Our banquet speaker is the renowned teacher, naturalist, and writer Jack Nisbet who lives in Spokane, Washington.

   

Local Tours

You can sign up for a tour for Tuesday afternoon between 3:30 and 5:30. The tours are 60-90 minutes and the registration fees cover the cost so there is no additional cost to participate in one. Select from:

  • Summer Seasonal: Explore the five eco-geographic regions of the Pacific Connections Garden. See stunning Hydrangeas, Magnolias and Sorrel trees.
  • Foster Island Ecology: Visit the plants and wildlife that live at the Arboretum's shores. Take a walk to Foster and Marsh Islands where great blue herons, turtles and beavers reside.
  • Native Plants and Ethnobotany: Visit the Arboretum's Native Knoll and upland forest to learn native plant ID and Puget Coast Salish uses of native plants.
  • Center for Urban Horticulture Green Building & Garden Tour: Get a behind the scenes tour of UW's first LEED Certified building and its surrounding display gardens.

Conference Venue & Accomodation

The meeting will be held at the University of Washington’s Botanical Gardens, Center for Urban Horticulture in Seattle, Washington.

We have reserved a block of 50 rooms at the Silver Cloud Inn, which is the closest hotel to the venue. They are honoring the GSA per diem rate which is $190/night + tax, which also includes parking and breakfast.
