Return of the Seedlot Selection Tool

The PNWTIRC has been collaborating with the US Forest Service (Brad St.Clair) and the Conservation Biology Institute (Dominique Bachelet, Brendan Ward, and Nikolas Stevenson-Molnar) to develop an updated version of the Seedlot Selection Tool.  The seedlot selection tool (SST) is a GIS mapping program designed to help forest managers match seedlots with planting sites based on climatic information. The climates of the planting sites can be chosen to represent current climates, or future climates based on selected climate change scenarios.  We're looking for beta testers!  We don't have any online instructions yet, but if you want to check it out, click on the link below, and use the password, "sstearlyaccess"

Adapting Forests to Climate Change (MNR 538)

Glenn Howe just finished teaching a new online, ecampus class entitled Adapting Forests to Climate Change, which is part of the new Climate Change Certificate in the Masters of Natural Resources degree program.  This course is primarily designed for working professionals, and was taken in the summer by students from Oklahoma to Hawaii.  Maybe you know someone who would be interested in taking it this Winter Term?  If you want to see the course overview, click here.
