Tenderfoot Basin proposed Research Natural Area (pRNA) was selected to represent fraternal Indian paintbrush (Castilleja fraterna) and Green fescue (Festuca viridula) communities found in the Blue Mountains of Oregon. The pRNA is comprised of south-facing slopes with limestone and basalt.
