Point Prominence proposed Research Natural Area (pRNA) was selected to represent grand fir (Abies grandis) and subalpine fir (Abies lasiocarpa) dominated plant communities. The topography of the pRNA is generally steep with mountain slopes bisected by perennial stream channels.  Major perennial streams include Camp Creek, Bell Creek, and the East Fork and main channel of Indian Creek. Subalpine fir dominates higher elevations in the eastern portions of the pRNA while grand fir dominates lower elevations in the western portions of the pRNA. Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii), lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta), western larch (Larix occidentals), and occasional stands of mountain hemlock (Tsuga mertensiana) are other common tree species found within the pRNA. Geyer's sedge (Carex geyeri) and Ross' sedge (Carex rossii) are common graminoids. Twinflower (Linnaea borealis) dominates benches on the eastern portion while thinleaf huckleberry (Vaccinium membranaceum) dominates the slopes.  Bride’s bonet (Clintonia uniflora) is present in drainage areas on the western side and grouse whortleberry (Vaccinium scoparium) is present on ridges. Moving polemonium (Polemonium californicum) is another common understory dispersed throughout the pRNA.
