North Ridge Bully Creek Research Natural Area (RNA) was established to represent diverse shrub steppe communities in Malheur County. The RNA lies on gently rolling hills and slopes. Wyoming big sagebrush/Thurber needlegrass (Artemisia tridentata ssp. wyomingensis/Achnatherum thurberianum), Wyoming big sagebrush-squawapple/bluebunch wheatgrass-Thurber needlegrass (Artemisia tridentata ssp. wyomingensis/Peraphyllum ramosissimum/Pseudoroegneria spicata), and big sagebrush-threetip sagebrush/bunchgrass (Artemisia tridentata-Artemisia tripartita) are common plant communities throughout the RNA.
