Exercise 5: 3-PG
Workshop Special Topics
- Compare
differences in species response (E. globules, Pi po,
Ps me) under
a standard specified climatic and soil conditions. Plot differences in LAI
and MAI over a rotation of 30 years.
2 Evaluate the extent that differences in
temperature responses might account for annual variation in MAIx
by varying Tmin and by setting average temperature
for all months at the optimum.
- Evaluate
effects of changing available soil water (100-300mm) and soil texture
(sand vs clay) on LAIx
and MAIx at Bariloche.
Also evaluate minimum soil water recorded throughout the year
(3PG-Results, or as specified output).
- Compare
effect of changing maximum age effect at Bariloche
pi po from 200 years to 50 years.
5. Using 3PG-Results at monthly time steps,
manipulate FR and ASW to maintain
similar values of MAIx and LAIx. Plot shifts in
the monthly patterns of GPP and
transpiration.
- Evaluate Silvicultural
Treatments as indicated in Series1 example for Bariloche
ponderosa
pine.
- Perform
a climatic sensitivity analysis at Bariloche by
(a) setting frost days to zero, (b) doubling precipitation each month, (c)
reducing precipitation by half each month. (d) setting
average temperatures values each month to 20oC (optimum).
- Increase
soil fertility from 0 to 1.0 at 0.2 steps for Wind River,Bariloche,
or Loblolly pine (control); compare estimates of total allocation of
carbon to root production with increase in FR and also the ratio of
above-ground dry matter production to below-ground production.
