What makes a good teacher?

1.      stimulates enthusiasm

2.      good public speaking skills

3.      good presentation skills

4.      lectures, class activities and exams are connected

5.      good, up-to-date, practical examples are used

6.      clear objectives

7.      stimulates critical thinking

8.      communicates at appropriate level for students

9.      openness to inquiry; approachable

10. uses a varietty of teaching tools

Elements of Good Teaching

1. Clear expectations, consistent implementation

2. The course is challenging (at a level that is appropriate for the students)

3. Instructor is excited about the material

4. Instructor shows humility; respect for class as a whole and as individuals

5. Evidence of Scholarship. Many sources of information are used; ideas are pulled from mass media and from specialized sources.

6. Instructor makes connections, draws analogies

7. A variety of learning activities are used
