Friendly Feedback to improve lecturing skills
Note to feedback givers: It is always important to be polite and constructive when you provide critiques. However,
graduate students tend to be overly nice and complimentary to one another. The purpose of this exercise is to
help everyone improve lecturing skills, and even very good lecturers can always improve. Please be sure to look
for ideas that will help your colleagues improve their lecturing skills.
Here are some attributes to consider in your critique. Be sure to consider whether each is appropriate for the
intended audience rather than for you, as a graduate student:
Body language and appearance
Style of speech
Clarity and interest level of the content covered
Visual aids
Other?
