After attending the lecture and additional reading as necessary, you should be able to:
1. Describe the function of the main cell types in leaves, xylem and phloem.
2. Compare and contrast roots and stems.
3. Explain the 2 functions of pits in xylem conduits.
4. Describe similarities and differences between pits from conifers and angiosperms.
5. Compare and contrast the tubes or conduits used for transport in the phloem vs. xylem.
6. Develop a hypothetical experiment that would test the statolith hypothesis of gravitropism.
