David Barnard

david.barnard<at>oregonstate.edu I am a second year M.S. student in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society where I am co-advised by Rick Meinzer and Barb Lachenbruch.  My current research focuses on a biophysical analysis of how sapwood anatomy and physiology differ between three members of the Pinaceae and their varieties adapted to the mild and wet western side of the crest of the Cascade Mountains and the arid and continental eastern side.  We will be investigating how sapwood stores and transports water as well as vulnerability to drought induced embolism and will tie in anatomical characteristics and their potential effects on these physiological responses.
Zane Haxton zane.haxton<at>oregonstate.edu

I am a second-year M.S. student in the FERM department and am advised by Temesgen Hailemariam. My research focuses on the spatial structure of Coast-Range riparian forests and is specifically geared towards integration of spatially-explicit data into monitoring plans.

Erin Hooten erin.hooten<at>oregonstate.edu Research: Genetic control of the shade-avoidance syndrome in cottonwood and hybrid poplar
Interests: Phytochromes, genetic conservation, ecosystem restoration

Daniel Moreno daniel.moreno<at> oregonstate.edu

Department: Water resources; Major Professor: John Selker; Research interest: soil water root interactions and water balance budgeting in a poplar plantation receiving tertiary wastewater at different irrigation rates.

Hathai Sangsupan hathai.sansupan<a>oregonstate.edu Department: Forest Ecosystems and Society Major Professor: Dave Hibbs Research Interests: Limiting factors affecting the restoration and regeneration of tropical forests
Biz Stamm

Stammel<at>ONID.orst.edu

Department:  Botany and Plant Pathology

Research Interest:  I am investigating the impact of a small molecular weight protein produced by Phytophthora ramorum on tanoak physiology and xylem anatomy.  In general I am interested in plant/pathogen interactions and forest pathology.
