Hello WFIWC Participants!

Preparations are now underway for the next Western Forest Insect Work Conference, which will be held in Spokane, WA, on March 23-26, 2009. Information about registration and other local arrangements will be posted soon, but in the meantime . . .

As you know, our annual concurrent workshops provide great forums for discussion, communication, and exploration of the latest issues, research, and new information on forest insects in the western US, Mexico, and Canada.

Do you have a favorite workshop topic you would like to see repeated? Is there a burning issue you feel should be discussed? Have you identified an intriguing workshop topic? This year, we have 15 workshop slots to fill. In addition to the regular workshops, we are also seeking a moderator for the student presentation session. Please consider moderating a workshop (even if you have never moderated one before) or proposing an idea for a workshop. Your contributions are what make WFIWC meetings so interesting and successful!

As in the past, we ask moderators to organize discussion/recruit speakers for their workshop and prepare a workshop summary for the proceedings.

Please contact either Iral Ragenovich or Beth Willhite, program committee co-chairs, with your workshop ideas and moderator offerings. Looking forward to seeing you all at WFIWC in 2009!
