Please plan to contribute and participate in the
2004 Silent Auction
to benefit the Western Forest Insect Work Conference's
Memorial Scholarship Fund
For several years WFIWC members have contributed items to a silent auction held at the annual meeting. Funds raised by the sale of these items go directly to the Memorial Scholarship Fund, as principle, from which the interest earned goes toward the annual Memorial Scholarship award.
How can you help? By donating your talents!
Bring an item of your own making or that would have special interest to entomologists and pathologists to the 2004 Conference in San Diego, CA. The item will be displayed in a Silent Auction at the poster session and social events on Wednesday, April 28. Members will have the opportunity to view and bid on these items. All proceeds will go to the Memorial Scholarship Fund. View some of the items that have already been donated.

Please help us plan the auction by
telling us what items you'll be contributing:
download a form for printing (.pdf format) or for emailing (.doc format) us
with information about your contribution.

Bumble-bee HouseIn many areas bumblebees are shouldering pollination work because European honey bees are depleted. In urbanized environments, appropriate bumble bee nest sites can be lacking. Coffee can is modified to be a bumble bee house. Decorated can includes ventilation holes, cardboard lining, sandpaper landing surface, and upholsterer's cotton bedding material and is ready for mounting on a sheltered area in your yard. (It may be kind of late in the season for all but the most northern entomologists to use in 2004, but it can be easily stored until next spring). Articles with bumble bee habitat information provided. "I mounted 3 of these coffee can bumble bee houses in my yard last year and one, mounted under the eaves of a low shed, was occupied and active all summer." Karen Ripley (donor). |
