A (above top). Lodgepole pine killed by the mountain pine beetle and subsequent regeneration in Tenaya Creek drainage, Yosemite N.P., July 1925.

B (above). Same scene 59 years later in August 1984. The overmature pines have been replaced by a new forest. Note that at this high elevation, some snags still remain standing and that vegetation is encroaching on the lake causing the rock at right to appear to have raised.
