Founded in 1949, the Western Forest Insect Work Conference (WFIWC) meets annually to provide members with opportunities to exchange information and explore new ideas regarding forest entomology and related fields. Membership is open to anyone interested in forest entomology. WFIWC meetings are generally held in March at various locations in western North America (past meeting locations). In some years, WFIWC meets with its western forest pathology counterpart (Western International Forest Disease Work Conference) or with other forest insect work conferences. View additional information about WFIWC history.
Officers of the WFIWC are elected at the annual meetings. Several standing committees are active, including the Founders Award Committee, the Memorial Scholarship Committee, the Memorial Scholarship Fund-Raising Committee, the History Committee, and the Common Names Committee.
