Dylan Keon presented his integration work with Google Maps/Google Earth.

Upcoming Meetings:

  • Report from Open Source Meeting: Matt reported that it was a good meeting. There was a survey of open source software (pdf) or (powerpoint) Both take a while to load. There are many packages that he hadn't heard of. Resurgence with Grass.
  • Geoprogramming Group: Excellent meeting on Wednesday, with Matt covering Versioning software. Next meeting will be November 28th.
  • GIS Day November 14th. Janet Ohmann is the keynote speaker. Title:(Seeing the forest and the trees: harnessing GIS to map forests of the Pacific Northwest)

    Training needs:

  • Using LiDar: There is an excellent Forest Service Site. Fusion Site
  • KML training?

    Data:

  • Kml questions (not sure what our questions were)
  • Keith is lookig for land fire data, trying to get risk. There is the
  • Also the wildfire explorer
  • Prism has new data available. 800 meter of the whole US.

    GIS Day Planning:

  • Opportunity to highlight your research/project before the keynote in 2nd floor Richardson knuckle.

    Round table:

  • Terralyn - Sequoia down Sunday (10-4) new disk. Cosmos- looking at making open source machine
  • Kuuipo - New portals: Land Use, Rural communities, Wildlife. Have the GIS portal toolkit and looking at being the spatial data protal for DAS. Hiring Program Manager for the spatial data portal
  • Theresa - New intern, working on projects for him, LTER grant due in February, so big push there. Trying to work with ArcServer.
  • Kelly - NHD data, personal geodatabase investigation.
