ESRI Users conference Wrap up

Meetings:

  • NW Users conf. – Sun River, OR – Oct 12 – 16
  • SilviLaser 2009– College Station, TX – Oct 14th – 16th
  • All Scientist Meeting, Estes Park, CO – Sept 14 – 16th

    Training Opportunities/Needs:

  • GIS Programming Practicum, GEO 599, Using Python scripting with ArcGis – Tracy Kulger, instructor
  • SDMG Geoprograming group : web site is up and running, not a lot of action as of late.
  • Enhancing your ArcGis Experience - .MSD files – T.Val will do next time.

    Data

  • T.Val is working on putting together Resource Natural Areas for Oregon and Wasthington. kc suggested that the USGS may have done something like that for the US and will investigate.
  • Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) – Data Basin – web tool to connect conservation datasets, tools and people together.
  • Independent Research group findings – that data are in!:

    Software

  • ArcGis 9.3.1: Available on the network
  • Python 2.4 is supported in this version, but current versions are not, 2.5.4 python will be supported in 9.4 release
  • Py-R discussion. Nuf said

    Round Table

  • Keith - wants folks to submit any good code snippets or advice to the geoprogramming group page. Also discussed an R module for reading ArcInfo(?)
  • Tad – happy to be included in such a wonderful group
  • Marc – will work on cleaning up some code pieces and post on the GPgroup page. Rocked hard at the ESRI conference.
  • Ron – Did a live demo of his web site at workshop held locally. Went well
  • Matt – New GNN grids for the NWForest Plan area and Califonia based on the 2006 work. Also doing lots of programming.
  • T.Val – wowed them at the Users conference with her Flex-map whilst at the Forest Service booth in San Diego.
  • Patti – Loving writing proposals. Can’t wait to write more of them. New LiDAR data for the Elwa River soon. Went to a meeting in Bend with parties interested in obtaining LiDAR for the Deschutes basin (Dogami sponsored).
  • kc - just keepin’ it real.
