Agenda
1. Meetings
Mid Willamette Valley GIS Users Group, Thursday, May 24, 2005 from 1-4PM, Lane County Public Works. Theresa attended this meeting. Interesting presentation by UO Infographics Lab. They have a campus-wide SDE database with every room in every building. They are using multimedia flash to produce internet maps: Using arccobjects, gis server and flash (flash reads xml). They have a searched based interface. Link to their mapping site. ESRI did a presentation on ArcGIS Explorer 9.2 (basically ESRI's answer to Google Earth. You can download it off the web. It is also availabe as a client for ArcGIS Server. I couldn't find it on their web site, but found this link that might interest some of you: arcexplorer-web It should be out with ArcGIS 9.2. I'm sure Keith will hear more about it at the conference.
Oregon GIS Standards meeting in Eugene June 28th at U of O: no one attended from our group
SCGIS Meeting: June 24-28 in San Jose, CA :Ken attended, perhaps he can give us a report?

2. Training Needs:
Library and Natural Resource Institute planning a remote sensing workshop in February 2007 (if they get grant money to do it). One day of talks, second day of optional on-hands training.
3. Data
2005 DOQ status: State is waiting on BLM to deliver images. Not sure when we'll have access to a copy. Library is getting ready to release their RFP for the Image Server (will be access similar to Terra Server and Google Earth).
Spatial Data Repository Meetings: Terralyn and Theresa are part of a committee working on making spatial data available to users on the OSU campus. Forestry will be one of three pilots (along with Geosciences and the Natural Resources Institute). We'll be using some of the data in /data/fordata to try and come up with estimates on how much effort and cost it will take to do the whole job. We're meeting next month to go over the pilots and to get some ideas from the library. We'll be getting a demo of ESRI's portal software (used in Geodata.gov) We'll keep you posted on the groups activities.
Questions/problems/bugs/ideas for Keith to bring to ESRI conference: send your questions to Keith before he goes
information on the portal software
ArcServer
working with geodatabases and extents/precision (side note: I have heard that version 9.2 (what's coming) has a high-precision coordinate storage for enhanced precision, so I'm not sure if some if keith's issues will go away or not.
Theresa would like some info on the new ArcExplorer
As always, we're expecting 'trinkets' from the expo!
