    Data Issues:
    Software:

Version 9.3.1 should be arriving soon. SDE on Rocky II

    Round Table:
  • Kelly: On furlow for 2 weeks.

Dave HW: Patti @ forestry conference. Interested in LiDAR conference at Texas A and M in October
    Some LiDAR links of note:

  • Public domain LiDAR in Oregon
  • Oregon Lidar Consortium
  • USGS Center for LIDAR Information Coordination and Knowledge (CLICK) --
They want to be the main repository of public domain LiDAR, but as Theresa said, may not be getting updated very promptly.

Issues with using the Classified Symbology option for rasters:
After converting to ArcGIS 9.3, a student was unable to get his raster to change from Stretched to Classified Symbology. ArcGIS complained of having too many unique values to be able to make a histogram. I suggested he try to upgrade to SP1 to see if that helped. This solved the problem.
In the SDMG meeting, it was also suggested to raise the limit on the number of unique values. I found this at Tools -> Options -> Raster -> Raster Attribute Table. The default number is 256,000. But with SP1 loaded, this no longer seems to be an issue. (For example, I have not increased my number above 256000, but I don't have this problem.) I am finding that with very large rasters, after selecting Classified and then clicking "Yes" when it asks whether to "compute histogram", there is a delay where it appears that the Layer Properties are not updating to Classified, but it is actually cranking away in the background and, if one is patient, it will eventually bring up the options under Classified.

And a correction about my slag on 9.3.1:
There's not a service pack out yet for 9.3.1, so far as I know. What I saw were patches for 9.3.1. My bad.

Heather: Interested in a database users group. She might want to check with Denise Steigerwald, who has tried in the pass to set up a group.

Ron: memory leak with scripting logic. He has a work around by doing work by polygon. He's working in .NET, Visual studio, working with tables and databases.

Terralyn: WCS working fine with image server. Question was could you use a VAT table with Image Server. They have more memory for Meridian, needs to tak it down to install. Map Server is on Meridian, we should describe the services on the machine.
Terralyn wants to get rid of ArcIMS, Theresa is the only one with services there, she needs to replace the ones up there before it is removed.

Jerry: ArcGIS has a new license file, and you can get a keyless license (don't need hardware keys anymore)

Theresa: providing input on possible end of year funding needs, You can change source paths from ArcCatalog, and she's continuing to work with the Flex API.

    Next Meeting: June 25
