Awards

To Matt Doggett for his presentation and to Keith for his great treats!

Meetings:

GIS In Action: Portland May 11-13
ESA in Portland: first week in August
ESRI Conference in San Diego: 2nd week in August (George might be attending)
Joint meeting with State folks: They didn't reply to second e-mail, so as far as we are concerned, it's not going to happen.
Society of Conservation GIS: Fall meeting in West Virginia

Training:

SDE/ArcIMS: Try and schedule a one day session for July
Intro to ArcGIS for Experienced GIS Users: Perhaps do a follow up after version 9 is out.
Others: What's new in ArcGIS 9 (this summer) and perhaps an ArcGlobe session led by Dave Hockman-Wert

ArcGIS 9.0 Upgrade:

New release should be out soon. Free all day seminar in Portland by ESRI on June 1. Sign up at www.esri.com. Not sure when we'll get it, but we'll let everyone know when it's here and loaded. We'll need to do a training/tips/tricks after it arrives.

Plotting: The Good, the bad, the ugly:

We had a discussion about the HP 5000 plotter in FSL and who's job it is to maintain/operate, etc. There needs to be more discussion with helpdesk and the FS IRM folks. We decided to put up some information on the web page on how to operate the plotter and troubleshoot problems. Hopefully that will take some of the workload off of Theresa. Useful link: Making posters in Powerpoint (This link has been added to the Tips and Tricks web page)

Round Table:

We had a discussion about getting Map Server loaded onto the Forestry network. Theresa indicated that she wasn't interested in switching (learning another map server). Matt was going to follow up with Terralyn about the possibility of putting in on a developmental machine.

Upcoming Speakers/Meetings:

June 19: Denis White from EPA
July 8: John Wells
