Please send corrections/additions to me and I'll send them back out.

* ARC/SDE - (George and Sean)
The majority of the work setting up geodatabases is on the database
side (Sean). Loading the data, taking the defaults, went fairly
smoothly.

However, with the defaults, the extent became the Western Hemisphere.

Shapefiles and coverages imported fine, however raster layers didn't
work.

Dylan suggested 8.1.2.

Other comments - If you edit a coverage in ARCGIS, then you must later
run externall in workstation if you want the coverage to work with
ArcView. Use arcedit instead, if possible.

Sean and George will continue to work with ARC/SDE.

* Matt's ARC/SDE training in Olympia has been cancelled. There
currently is one scheduled June 27-28 in Eugene. The cost would be
$540, and there needs to be 6 people committed to going to keep the
class scheduled.

* Computer space management - A new 438GB RAID will be coming soon
to replace /data/fordata. The RAID that currently is /data/fordata
will be moved to /www on castanea.

* Physical space - It is possible that FSL 345 will be eliminated as
a lab. Theresa is looking to consolidate the big plotter, digitizer,
and one unix workstation into a smaller space. We also talked about
the possibility of donating the digitizer to the Library. Theresa
will talk to Shirley Scott about that possibility.

Forestry Computing Resources will most likely be remodeling FSL 217
and hope to accomodate the small plotter that is currently in
FSL 345.

* Colors on the new plotter - Keith has been working on finding some
settings to increase the saturation of colors, especially with
ArcMap. Although there is no solution yet, it seems that the problem
is not just with ArcMap.

* Supplies for the plotter - Theresa needs management codes for more
paper. Please let the folks with $$ know if you use the plotter.

* Other Topics -
