New terrabyte server installed. Terralyn is moving data and having some problems. Jutebox is on it's last legs. There is space left on the terrabyte server and we'd like to have a student worker from helpdesk start copying DOQ's on there. Terralyn will get with Mike to see if this is possible. The replacement for Sequoia is ordered, but Sun is not shipping due to problems with chip. There are security problems with Samba and Terralyn will be doing upgrades to fix in the near future.
Sean was able to add another database to the existing SDE instance on Rocky. Now there are two databases to connect to: HJAndrews and MtSt.Helens. I ran into some problems populating the Mt. St. Helens because of the amount of space allocated and what it takes to build these sde geodatabases. I would like Sean to sit down with me and evaluate what we've done. I'll forward results to Forestry Computing Resources to help them with their fee structure.
No response yet although another group had received a letter saying they received on.
GIS Certification at OSU: Theresa attended this meeting. The group is working on replacing the current Earth Information Science and Technology Minor program with a Geographic Information Science Certificate program. There will be three levels of certificates: 1. for grad or undergrad students that basically replaces the current program, with a few tweakes, 2. an option for a professional certificate for non-students, where the professional takes the same courses, but is not enrolled in a program working toward a degree. They can continue on and get a degree and have the course work apply. The third option will be worked on in the future, to have a professional certificate that is developed with a combination of short courses and web classes. The first two certificates will be proposed to the University first, as they are replacing existing programs. The third will be developed over time. Contact Dawn Wright for more information
Mark K. also announced that he is going to move toward Imagine 8.6 in the near future. See Mark if you have questions

I also have a process for extracting a Z-value from a Z-Point data object:
1) Using 3D Analyst chose Convert>Features to 3D to add z values from a
raster data set to a point data set
2) Open the feature table for the resulting data set and under Options add
a new field
3) Using the context menu on the new field choose Calculate
4) In the calculate window click on the Advanced box and insert the
following script:
Dim pPoint as Ipoint
Set pPoint = [Shape]
5) Set the new field value to pPoint.Z
I've also found a script for ArcView that does a similar thing. It's attached to this message. Sorry I won't be around for the meeting. If you set up a separate T'nT session, I'll be happy to demo these tools. geo(see George if you want a copy of the script for ArcView
Keith, Kelly, Theresa, and Jerry Mohr will do a tips/tricks on plotting/plotters, time to be announced.
SDE: Theresa wants to do a workshop on SDE and ArcIMS as soon as we have the bugs worked out with the upgrade to 8.3 and 4.01. This will be to prepare folks who want IMS websites.
Metadata: There needs to be more training on this, perhaps with tips/tricks from Geo?
Others? It was also suggested that we have a session on arcobjects...anyone willing?
Doug Terra from OWEB talked about their efforts related to Salmon/Natural Resource data. He gave out handouts with information about their project. Also talked about the REO looking for support
Theresa notified folks that Fragstats has a new version out (public domain) at UMass and that folks will be refered to that site from the HJ Andrews site (instead of providing it on-line from our site)
