Cookies-Birthday Cake by/for Jonathan
Note taker-Keith
Hawaiian Shirt Day

Attendees:

Keith, George, Jonathan, Terralyn, Yang, Matt G., Theresa V., Sean, Marti,
Mark K., Kelly C., Robin.

Agenda:
* Awards

Awards were given to Yang for his new web chat site, thanks Yang!, and those
who remembered to wear there Hawaiian shirts (George, Jonathan, Kelly).

* ArcIMS Problems

Theresa has a request out to ESRI for help with our arcIMS setup. With the
extra users, the site's stability is currently very poor. Version 4 is
coming soon with a new metadata server extension, and Linux/winXP
compatibility.

* Report from meeting with John Sharrard

ArcGIS 8.1.2 should be available soon, but wait! ArcGIS 8.2 to be available
in a few weeks. We'll see which team's product we like better.
Improvements include support for winXP, improved queries and datum
management. Contact Sharon Clarke for more details on this.

ArcGIS 8.3 is coming out this year, so if we don't like 8.2 ...

ArcObjects to arrive with possible unix support. ArcMap will be capable of
saving .avx files for use in ArcIMS. This will replace the author thingy.

Also, there are several tech support level options at ESRI. Move up as your
questions stump the technicians.

* Upcoming Events/Meetings:
	Mid Willamette GIS meeting 2/26/02 in Albany
		City to host event.
	GIS In Action (April 1-3 in Portland)
	OUS meeting on GIS Feb 28th
		Need reps from OUS GIS community. Dawn Wright, Eileen
Buckley and Sharon Clarke were mentioned as possibilities.

* SDE update from Sean

Rocky is up and running. Most everybody from today's meeting has an account
already created by Sean. Sean has a test database setup to play with. To
access it, open a connection to the database in ArcCatalogue. Make sure
that you have the esri_sde service loaded and enter the server name as
rocky.fsl.orst.edu. To setup a database, make sure Sean has:

Database name
Responsible Person
Database description
Project Association

call the database:  SDE_
For details, talk to Sean SanRomani

* RS and GIS speaker-who and when-lunchtime preferred by ASPRS
	Andrew Marcus
	Lisa Levien

	Paul Ringold
	Charles Convis
	Mike Furnis (sp?)
* Other items

Next Meeting Issues:
* Standardizing projections/datums for SDE geodatabases. Is this an issue?
How will we keep from duplicating database efforts and centralize data.
