Agenda:

1. Awards (none given out) congrats to Keith on his new OSU Job!

2. On-line discussion forum for GIS/RS:

Everyone liked the forum and thanks to Yang for making it. The group would like to have it moved to Forestry at some date.

3. Upcoming classes: ArcIMS 1/18 and Imagine 1/22 and 1/24

4. Report from Sean on SDE training: Sean attended ArcSDE and ArcSDE Admin classes in Redlands (workshop books are located in his office). He is working on installing SDE on Rocky (the new big server) and hopes to have the components installed by Friday 1/18. Matt will be attending a 2 day SDE training in Olympia at the end of February. The group would like Sean and Matt to present a workshop in March (after Matt gets back). The group came up with some questions for Matt to ask the trainer: (one of the questions) How do you link to external databases not managed by SDE?

5. Round table report on happenings:

Theresa is getting more DOQ’s, 2000 photography of US Forest Service land, compressed 1994 DOQ’s. This collection of CD’s is getting large, and we need a place to put this information. Theresa will research possibilities and let the group know the alternatives.

People are having trouble printing directly from ArcMap. The current work around is to print .eps file directly from the file manager or from the unix prompt.

Matt has taken several of the ESRI virtual campus courses and he thought that they were good. He took ‘What’s new in arcgis 8.1’ and ‘Intro to Visual Basic’. You can get codes for these classes from George Lienkaemper.

New plotter is fsl345plotter.fsl.orst.edu. Matt is going to send out a message about the new plotter. David Hood bought us a supply of ink.

Terralyn is looking at putting Imagine 8.5 on Unix.

6. Tips and Tricks Sessions:

Graphic Output: Jonathan and Kelly are going to set up this session for sometime around March.

Others: SDE when Matt comes back from training, hope to do another ArcIMS session soon.
