High mountain lake locations in the Idaho Batholith displayed with level IV ecoregions.

This is part of a data set of over 11, 000 natural mountain lakes located in mountainous ecoregions in the western United States. The data were developed from the 1:100,000 National Hydrography data set and verified using the TerraServer web site. At each lake centroid elevation and climate variables have been extracted. The data set will be used to examine the differences and similarities in lake biology across the mountainous ecoregions of western North America.
