Description Abstract A combined landuse and landcover mape of the Willamette River Basin for approximately 1990, version three 'a' December 15, 1999 (121599). Purpose Establishes the existing conditions base for projections of potential future conditions. Supplemental_Information Procedures_Used Please see process narrative. Agricultural fields are identified from a database and model developed by John Bolte and Pat Berger of the Bioresources Engineering Laboratory at Oregon State University. Revisions This is version three 'a', which includes revisions defined during the November 1999 ERC all scientists meeting: a) incorporation of a forest disturbance map developed by Warren Cohen of OSU; and b) an updated version of the agriculture dataset. This version (3a) is an update to version 3 which corrects errors in agricultural classifications primarily in Benton County. Reviews_Applied_to_Data This grid expresses the classification scheme used throughout the ERC to characterize present and future conditions of the WRB. Its legend has been reviewed and revised by Consortium participants during the preceding two years. In addition, analytic (modeling) products derived from this dataset have been compared to each other and external sources to evaluate its accuracy. The grid is compiled from fourteen component grids, many of which are subsets and derivatives of multiple sources. In combining both satellite imagery for landcover and other sources for landuse, rules of precedence are used to specify the final value of cells for which multiple candidates exist. This precedence scheme has been reviewed by the Consortium and is documented as described in the Procedures Used section and narrative, above. The default value for any cell not otherwise specified is the 40 category TM classification identified in the Citations Section of the metadata. Classification accuracy has been assessed through comparison of classed values with independant sources and by other means. Contingency tables are available.
