Description Abstract ODOT Functional Transportation digital data. These data were in InterGraph format, tiled at the subcounty level. 22 maps were required to cover the ten counties of the Willamette River Basin. The datasets were imported into ARC/INFO, projected into UTM coordinates and the igds-level field was presserved. Purpose To be used as general transportation basemap. The dataset was also used to build a Functional Transportation map for the Planning Atlas of the Willamette River Basin (ISE GIS Research Lab, 1998). Supplemental_Information Procedures_Used TRANSPORTATION Transportation data, with special emphasis on roads, were also obtained from the Oregon Department of Transportation through its ftp site. These data are in InterGraph format, tiled at the subcounty level such that 22 maps were required to cover the ten counties of the Willamette Valley study area. ODOT provided documentation on these data including information on codes, projection used and spatial units. The InterGraph file names were modified to have the .dgn extension required by ArcInfo for conversion and were imported as, for example: Arc: igdsarc lane1.dgn lane1 using the $REST option to include all data availble. This operation places some of the attribute data of interest to us in an .ACODE file which we the joined to the .AAT: Arc: build lane1 arcs Arc: joinitem lane1.aat lane1.acode lane1.aat lane-id lane-id Two of the maps, BENT1 and MARI2, were in units of miles while the others were in units of kilo-feet, thousands of feet. Since the coverages units are thousands of feet, this must be converted to meters during projection via the parameters file (odot2utm.prj). Access_Constraints n/a Use_Constraints Linework is the same that exists in its INTERGRAPH format from the ODOT source. However, data was manipulated (it had to be converted to ARC/INFO cover projected into UTM and clipped to the basin boundaries). Also, the data was imported using the IGDSARC command with the $REST option. Using the resulting .ACODE file, the attributes were joined to the .AAT Furthermore, same of the datasets had to be transformed since some of the datase data at the 1:100,000 scale as a general transporatation basemap.
