9. Foliage analyses of stunted seedlings showed severe phosphorus deficiency, a common consequence of mycorrhizal deficiency. Heavy phosphorus fertilization plots (between strings) applied in 2nd and 3rd growing seedlings failed to correct the deficiency in absence of mycorrhiza formation.
