Modeling Region 225 : Oregon and California Klamaths

MR 225 MR 221MR 222MR 223MR 224MR 225MR 226MR 227

Overview

This modeling region encompasses the Klamath province in both Oregon and California. The province is influenced by unique geologic conditions. In many areas, serpentine soils formed by the accretion of rocks onto the continent control the native vegetation, which is dominated by mixed-conifer and mixed conifer/hardwood forest such as Douglas-fir/tanoak/madrone. The province is characterized by historically high fire frequencies (0-35-year fire-return intervals), and fire suppression has resulted in areas with significant accumulations of fuel, shifts in species composition, and changes in stand structure. Forests are highly fragmented as a result of dry climate, poor soils, and past harvest practices, as well as ownership patterns, especially in areas of 'checkerboard' ownership. Slightly over half of the province in Oregon is federally managed. In California, National forests cover about three-quarters of the province.

Plot Database

LEMMA offers a number of data tables associated with this region. Many of the tables can be downloaded by clicking on the plot database link below, but the larger tables are only available upon request. The database contains plot data for all modeling regions within a project. Documentation for these tables is embedded in the Data Dictionary section below.
