1 : Eastern Washington

OverviewMost of the forest land in this modeling region is located within the Northern Rockies ecoregion of northeastern Washington, with lesser amounts of forest and woodland along the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Despite its inland position, climate and vegetation are typically marine-influenced. Forests are strongly conifer-dominated, including maritime species (western redcedar and western hemlock) as well as Douglas-fir, subalpine fir, grand fir, Englemann spruce, and ponderosa pine. The mountains within this modeling region are not as high as the Rockies to the north and east, although alpine characteristics are found at the highest elevations.
