- Abstract:

This ERDAS Imagine raster file portrays forest above ground biomass predictions for the St. Petersburg Region of Northwest Russia. Biomass predictions in metric tonnes per hectare are derived from regression modelling of Landsat TM data from 1987-1995. Values have been truncated at a minimum of 1 t/ha and a maximum of 700 t/ha. Only forest pixels have been estimated, as delimited in an associated land cover raster data set STPETE_13CL. There is also an associated forest age prediction raster data set STPETE_AGE. This work was done by the Laboratory for Applications of Remote Sensing in Ecology in Corvallis, Oregon, USA, and funded by NASA's Land Cover- Land Use Change program.

This data layer was created to represent the forest above-ground biomass for the St. Petersburg Region of Northwest Russia, so that forest managers and ecologists might have a regional map of forest carbon stocks.
