This ERDAS Imagine raster image was created as part of the research undertaken by the Laboratory for Applications of Remote Sensing in Ecology (<http://www.fsl.orst.edu/larse/>) funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Land Cover- Land Use Change (LCLUC) program under a cooperative agreement with Oregon State University # NAG5-6242.

Description:

Abstract:

This Imagine raster image portrays forest age predictions for the St. Petersburg Region of Northwest Russia. Age predictions in years are derived from regression modelling of Landsat TM data from 1987-1995. Values have been truncated at a minimum of 1 yr. and a maximum of 700 yrs. Only forest pixels have been estimated, as delimited in an associated land cover raster data set STPETE_13CL. There is also an associated forest biomass prediction raster data set STPETE_BIO. This work was done by the Laboratory for Applications of Remote Sensing in Ecology in Corvallis, Oregon, USA, and funded by NASA's Land Cover- Land Use Change program.

Purpose:

This data layer was created to represent the forest age for the St. Petersburg Region of Northwest Russia, so that forest managers and ecologists might have a regional map of forest age.
