Currently, there are
four research themes that focus CFER research activities.
The themes are designed to provide a strong emphasis on integration
across multiple disciplines, spatial scales, and geographic
regions in western Oregon. Research activities are being conducted
that pertain to stand structure in young stands,
large wood in riparian and aquatic systems, landscape pattern
and composition, and the influences of riparian vegetative community
composition on consumer organisms. Specifically, these themes
address:
|
| |
|
Stand Structure and
Biotic Responses to Changes in Structure of Young Forests
of Western Oregon |
|
| |
|
Large
Woody Debris in the Terrestrial and Aquatic Riparian
Zone: Production, Recruitment, Retention, and Function |
|
| |
|
Influence
of Landscape Pattern
and Composition on Species in Forested Ecosystems of Western
Oregon |
|
| |
|
Influence
of Riparian Vegetative Community Composition on Animal Community Response |
Several subcomponents
of these themes have been completed, and the process of putting
this information in the hands of land managers to assist them
in making management decisions is well underway. |
