The Oregon Coast Range
Province includes the coastal mountains of western Oregon from
the Columbia River south to the Middle Fork of the Coquille
River. Forests of Douglas-fir, western hemlock, and western
redcedar, dominate this region with a narrow band of Sitka spruce
along the coast. Nearly 40% of the region is in public ownership.
The southern half of the province includes a mixture of private,
Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands. The
northern half is largely in private and state ownership. Older
forests in the southern half of the province are highly fragmented
due to the checkerboard pattern of BLM and private land ownership.
The following CFER research, organized by project, is located
in the Oregon Coast Range.
