1. Create point estimates of forest canopy height and aboveground biomass for the forests of the Amazon basin using GLAS data.

2. Combine point estimates of forest canopy height and aboveground biomass with MODIS landcover and multi-temporal reflectance data, as well as ancillary GIS and environmental data to create spatially continuous coverages of each variable for Amazon basin

3. Quantify the sources of uncertainty in the estimation of (1) and (2).

4. Compare the new biomass estimates from GLAS and MODIS to existing biomass maps in the region.

5. Evaluate the sensitivity of C flux estimates associated with land cover change in the region to the new biomass values.
